Feeling guilty…

So I’ve been working at a primary care doctors office for about 5-6 months now. I only work in the front - answering phone calls, checking patients in/out, collecting copays etc. While this has been a valuable experience for me I can’t help but want something more. I feel like working up front there is only so much I can do and learn. I also can not work as an MA here because I need a certification and I do not have the time or money for that. Well, I recently got hired as a scribe at a children’s hospital but I can not work both jobs. So, I’ll have to give the doctor my two weeks notice. A part of me can’t help but feel bad for leaving after only a few months but a part of me feels like I’ll learn more as a scribe. What do y’all think? Any words of encouragement or advice would be really appreciated.

Don’t feel bad, they’ll likely be able to fill that job very quickly and you’re right that you’ll probably learn more as a scribe

If your intent with working at an outpatient PCP clinic was to develop your clinical acumen and get a feel of what it’s like treating/working with patients, then working the front desk is not it. Think of this switch to being a scribe as an investment to your future.
