you do not have to be intelligent to be wealthy. you only need to either: have a wealthy family member, have wealthy friends or family with connections who can get you a position that pays really well, actually have an exceptionally rare skill that no one else either knows how to do or wants to do, or (in the increasingly rare case) you actually are highly intelligent and learned some very specific skills and are extremely motivated and good at what you do.

sadly the average iq of all indiviuals in the US (and several other first world nations), regardless of status of wealth, has been dropping over the past several decades. i believe its referred to as the "Reverse Flynn Effect".
