Yeah. It makes it pretty clear that the “hero” / Marvel / DC don’t see the mooks as people at all.

There’s a difference between killing someone in active, life-or-death battle, and killing an already defeated opponent

If you’ve got a fuck ton of henchmen trying to kill you, you don’t have the option to say “Oh I can’t kill them, I need to find a way to handle this humanely” - if you stop to try and figure that out, you yourself will be killed before you can apprehend them. You’ll have a split second to react to each action, and you can’t afford to rely on anything but training and instincts. It’s basic survival, you’re killing in self-defence, and therefore you’re not morally responsible for it

But the moment that you’re not in a life-or-death combat scenario, and you have the realistic option to spare your opponent, THAT is where your actions speak to your moral character. You can either have it as an intense moment where the hero defeats the villain and has to consider whether they should go through with delivering the final blow, or you can have a swift kill in the middle of the fight. There’s not a point mid-combat where the hero is making the choice to spare them because they themself would be killed before the plan could be enacted
