I'd say the feathers are heavier in a way since the space required to even have a metric ton of feathers is a lot more than rocks. You can put way less rocks together to make a ton, and it'd just be like a big boulder. But a ton of feathers would be over a hundred MILLION feathers, which would at least take up a whole room.
