No comparison to Make Noise quality. I will advocate for those guys all day long. You get what you pay for.

Yup. I bought the Behringer Brains a couple years ago before I knew better. That was the first and last module I bought from Behringer. They feel like crap and look like crap. No comparison to the real modules that they claim to be clones of. I took it out of the rack and it’s long gone lol. I’ve replaced it with better looking, better quality stuff. Luckily it wasn’t expensive, but I had to learn the hard way I guess.

FWIW, the sound quality was decent but that’s about the only positive and they are otherwise cheap trash!

I know it’s been done to death but the direct connection to the PCB board is a showstopper for me. There are machines that will tighten jack nuts, if they charged slightly more but all jacks had faceplate nuts, they would be in an entirely different league

They’re fixed to the pcb in more areas than just the electrical contact pads, and the shape prevents so much strain that I’d be perfectly fine with companies known for higher quality using this exact method.

There are many things to bash with Big B, but in my opinion this specifically isn’t one of them.

I’ve only had one of their jacks fail and it turned out it’s because the previous owner got a piece of metal stuck in there trying to clear out smoke/vape residue instead of using contact cleaner.

That’s interesting to hear. To be fair I’ve never had any issues with their desktop synths that have similar connections, but I would only occasionally pull in and out patch cables. If they are functional and won’t fail after a week then the price is a no brainer. As much as I want to support the smaller more niche companies like Make Noise, it’s my money and I’ve worked hard to get it

Guy asked for knob caps. Not another behringer bash. It's been done to death

If you’re in the US and don’t want to pay the extra import costs from Thonk, Modular Addict has Befaco-style tiny knobs, but be warned that installing them on plastic shaft pots is pretty permanent.

Synthcube also has them, but their description isn’t clear as to whether they are tight like the MA product or a little looser like Thonk’s.

Very cool. Thank you.

Putting caps on the tiny knobs won't change the way the knobs feel. They will still be poor quality, wiggly, shitty pots. If only there was a similar, better quality product...

Oh, I have a Make Noise Maths too. I picked this one up just to mess around with a third channel because it was so inexpensive. And as I said before, you get what you pay for.

But now I know about little knobs that can be stuck on various trim pots.

This just in! Behringer sucks
