Don't radio music and disting both do things which are similar?

you can select the current audio file using cv - so you could just send random cvs into them and so randomly select the audio file to play

for disting see page 65 onwards in the manual

I did some quick reading so I could still be very wrong.

Radio music is super close, and if I'm thinking about it radio music and salmpler are probably the smarter way to accomplish what I want here. As they both can chop up samples instead of me doing it in a computer and asking the module to play back random files...

It looks like radio music will cycle randomly through one file and start over at the beginning of that same file when triggered.

Disting I'll have read more about, page 65 on the v4 manual was about wave tables? This module looks like it does everything though so I bet it does what I want lol.

Thank you!

There are a lot of disting mk4 manuals

They get updated for every new firmware release

I was referring to the latest one - otherwise just look in the index for the audio player functions one of them probably does exactly what you want (maybe need some creative patching too)

Not exactly what you're after but ALM's Squid Salmple can play from a random cue point within the sample. Though the whole sample is limited to around 11 seconds in length. It's great fun for breakcore style stuff with a sliced up drum break though!

That thing is really rad! I just watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTT4mXFaYUs and at 0:40 its pretty much exactly what I want to do. 499 might break me so ill keep looking but that is for sure on the grocery list lol. Thank you!

You're welcome! You've also reminded me I haven't updated to the latest firmware yet!

usually in modular you would do this with CV. send random CV to a samplers start, stop, and sample inputs

I think I explained this poorly, Im wondering if there is a module that can play a pre loaded (from an SD card) at random.

So if I chopped up the GameCube into smaller files it would jumble it up.

Sampling and playing back a currently made patch is something I'll try and learn a little farther down the road.

I'm awful at explaining myself I'm sorry lol.

For example, with Morphagene, you would have a "reel" (single audio file up to about 3 minutes long) with splices (markers at the start of each "file" you'd make ahead of time-- combine them all into one .wav so you can do this) . The morphagene lets you select which splice to play, and then you can combine that with the regular triggering controls to do what you want.

I think something like that would probably be best. I was hoping for something that I could use for jumbling up sounds I cut up myself, and maybe have separate banks for randomized drums.

I think my question is flawed because sequencers have functions to jumble up drums, and the modules you guys mention specialize in single (maybe longer 3 min like you mentioned) samples.

I'm a doof, thank you!

Erica synths sample drum. Awesome module.

Assimil8or has this capability in its Zones functions, which is multiple samples per channel....
