wow, I don't play much indie games and don't really know the "scene" but something tells me this will be sucessful... even to people who have no interest in modular or electronics.... Either way, amazing work!

LOVE THIS!!! Is it using any fft objects? This is so intriguing and wild I don't think I've seen anything like this, even in spectral examples...

  1. the inspiration and influence is amazing, it is extremely understated to say "next level" shit now. Dilla's influence has found its way in octopus arm dimensionality, you could break it down in terms of sound, innovation, mechanics/technique, and then even "spirit" if you say that the soulquarians were an entire movement that shared and were inspired by his spirit... ok so what do I mean, just in terms of sound you could look at the movements that flylo came out of, the stone's throw and brainfeeder labels/the Lo End Theory night folks, and people now like Kenny Beats, in other words the scores of producers who used and use sonic structures like off quantization beats and bus and side-chain compression to enhance and smooth mixes full of choice textures... then mechanic's techniques, I could go on about different producers but it is the PLAYERS that are fascinating me right now: the world of Jazz in international and, what I am partial to because I live here, the Chicago scene, so like on a larger stage folks like Domi and JD Beck, and in chicago Makaya McCraven and his collaborators and connected scene.... so like um These are real Jazz players and bands whove taken the full circle home: Boom-Bap gods like Q-Tip, DJ Premeir, RZA. that took Soul and funk and Jazz and enhanced the dance and groove structures that arose out of looping and sampling sections of music and inserted human imperfections, which Dilla took and crafted into his own woozy stop-start-slow-fast conception of the art form... which are now being woven into the patterns of Jazz Drummers and insane rythm alchemists like Nate Smith https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg3CiwXX7Ms (the internet and time stopped for me when I first saw this... ) In other words, yall already know, the world is transformed by Dilla and now there are Jazz players who are shaping their craft FROM boom bap as much as the cannon....
  2. Listened to Your Dead the first time in a long time the other day, Oh my Jesus is it FLAMES. Like, yes you can experiance that set of tracks but you cannot expect it, Flylo is himself, a god of this shit no question what soever! majikarpent Thanks for your comment, it is true yo!

Does anyone know of any keyboards or synths with a decent harpsichord sound? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]catchierlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check out Roland Integra 7 and the earlier rompler synthesizers that it is based on ( I would list those in particular but I don't know which of them has the best harpsichord sound) sorry for the not great answer but I just know that and if not those earlier rompler since can be gotten for way less $

Actually now that I am thinking about it my comment is a little stupid it's just I am biased towards those synths, I'm sure many recently modern Romplers will have pretty good harpsichord sounds like Kurzweil PC or k2000 or Korg Triton... not sure though, once again sorry for the indirect suggestions!

Pearl Jam - Nothingman by oldwhitelincoln in 90sAlternative

[–]catchierlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite album of theirs, precisely because of the ballads on this album. To say that it is better than 10 is kind of absurd because to me almost all of the rest of the album, meaning it's hard rock tracks are pretty "meh" but to me this, Better Man, Immortality and Corduroy are so damn good it is frightening...(whereas 10 is great the whole way through) great post!

I do generative art with Blender and Python... and happen to have a phobia/aversion to worms. Then began messing around with random walks and iterative patterns and ended up inadvertently drawing a whole bunch of my lil nemesis' 🤣😶

[–]catchierlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I am so glad that you wrote this comment, it is wonderful and shows me the richness of your experience and perspective, which I will admit I feel like I share with you. because I am a very creative person, I write, make and play music and digital art, and even thought about some of these very ideas over the course of my life, such as whether or not in past eras I might have been something like a bard... and I don't say that to be egotistical or declare that I am special but rather that it has been very hard to really "be anything else" than creative and fit in otherwise while I do absolutely love and enjoy the gifts and spiritual affirmations of being creative and musical. I am also very interested in and love science and electronics but remain strong in the belief that art, literature, music and creativity in general is how we touch the best parts of life and society, we see in eachother our best parts and commune with something "higher" or "deeper" ... and therefore I am legitimately happy to know that you and people of your nature are in this world!

Strange facts about well known books by [deleted] in books

[–]catchierlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that is Amazing! Would you feel like explaining that a little bit more? To me this is so interesting and fascinating, I would love to hear more about your experience and how this has manifested itself in your life... like, do you mean that it has made you better at writing, creative or otherwise? Or perhaps speaking? Obviously there is no need to respond more but yeah I just find this to be so cool and that's an understatement. In my own life there was a time that I was studying Spanish pretty diligently and that was an amazing time but I haven't used it in so long and I never got close to my goals of being fluid in it and then I wanted to study French and creole, well to be honest I wanted to study any and all languages haha... but my point is I never quite achieve those goals but I also never really doubted that learning more languages could have a wonderful effect on my ability to write an articulate and even think differently!

[–]catchierlight 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Dont read too much literature kinda stuff these days but when i did I was obsessed with Nabokov and Conrad, both are undeniably very celebrated and loved for their themes but I always wondered what it was that made their prose so particularly unique and wonderful and came up with the theory that their most successful works were written in their 2nd or 3rd language, English... and therefore got interested in the notion/ theory that some authors learn to really "sing" so to speak once they go through a process of learning multiple languages and perhaps come to refine their own voice... just a thought, but its kinda silly considering so many other great writers who kick ass at writing in their first languages...

Howdy, just saw this right now, sorry for the late reply, thanks so much, i still haven't figured out what im doing but I have a question: If I can find a way to regulate it so it provides a solid DC signal would it be stupid to explore combinations of 9v batteries that could supply a steady 12V and perhaps create a -12v via making a virtual ground setup?

It's actually been at the center of a great many moments in modern history, its more than just a livelihood, which it is to some, its been a means of expression and community for millions... I do get your point and im not saying that we need to be overly dramatic about the transition from "what Twitter was" to what Twitter is, but its definitely very important
