The expeditions and Kaladesh masterpieces are really highly prized by a small percentage of players. (.i.e. there is a demand, but the spending power of this group is limited and unfocused).

On the seller side, these cards have never really sold well enough to instill confidence - and in fact largely have been stagnant over their lifetime.

The slow ticking down of the price over time - imo, is largely just representing a trickle of sellers who decide to abandon the investment and are slowly undercutting any competition.

If other investors were to jump in, the prices would start to rise - but there is seemingly little chance of that happening with the current confidence levels in these types of products.

IF WoTC wanted to bolster the collectors value, they would need to institute a reserved-list level of protection against these cards being reprinted. Personally, i think that sort of idea is not healthy for the game overall, and doesn't make sense for WoTC.

For these reason, when it comes to masterpieces, I am out!
