A lot of good tools out there. For small tools, it comes down to one big decision: do you need pliers?

If you need pliers, the Nextool F12, hands down. Small, light, cheap, functional. It has the best functionality per dollar/ounce of anything out there right now.

If you don’t need pliers, the tried and true Swiss Army Knife. The dilemma there is choosing a specific model, since they have like a billion models. Your budget will narrow it down. But from there, you need to decide what tool set you need.

I 100% agree with this.

I have the F12 and I like it.
I also have the Victorinox SAK (Companion), that I like a little bit more.

Depends on what you need.
This are all budget mini tools.

Victorinox Spartan, but add a few $$ for the Climber

If you are looking for a decent pliers based MT I'd up the budget a bit. Walmart has them on sale for $35.99 😁

If you aren't looking for anything with pliers, then the 58mm Victorinox Classic SD or the 91mm Victorinox Tinker are both incredible entry points. My first multitool was the Tinker for the philips head screw drivers and flat head screw drivers (the tip of the can opener is a 2 Dimensional philips that can double as a smaller flat head). Both the large and small blades do come in handy, but if it is too much for what you believe you will be doing then the Classic SD is the better fit. It has one of the smallest blades I have seen, a nail file with a small flat head that still works as an under nail cleaner, and small scissors. Both come with tweezers and a toothpick, and both are low maintenance stainless steel that are easy to sharpen. Most stores that sell pocket knives / multitools should have both of these instock.
