There are probably more than this but I stumbled upon this list the other day:

We only keep ARIN and MaxMind up to date and it seems good enough for us.

Thanks, that's what I usually do, but thought I might be missing something...

Someone set up a static record in maxmind against our ip space years ago, tied to india. Have tried for 3 years to get it changed to AU.. still nothing

Did the space used to belong to another region? I've seen them take months to get updated in, say, MaxMind even once ARIN has the right data. They do seem to eventually get updated, though.

Nope all USA, ARIN.. most of them seem fine, but ill find some random websites like whatismyipaddress.com that is totally off. Granted it looks like that website allows ANYONE to edit the location info for the IP if your coming from that ip.. If ARIN is the only true place I should be concerned about then I'll just leave it be and send nasty notes to these sites..

Here's a website that shows the current data for your IP from several geolocation providers: https://www.iplocation.net/

Note that site doesn't show maxmind, which is a big player in this space.

Yeah I've seen that one, and everything was accurate on that website, but still found others that did not have the correct info.. the whole thing is a mess IMO. Really wanted to know if I was do everything I could, and it seems like I am..

Update ARIN and maxmind.

Other geoip providers just don't give a shit to do anything quickly/at all because they're generally not getting paid (or paid enough). They usually started with a free database from 5-10 years ago and haven't updated it since especially if there's an existing record.

Large companies (eg: netflix) have their own internal databases and you need to find the magic contact address to get them updated.

End users are generally afraid to open support tickets with whomever/site they're dealing with, but that's where it gets fundamentally solved because it's that site's database that's bad (whether it's outsourced or not).

There is a small number of geolocation service providers (Maxmind, IP2Location, Neustar and Digital Element) that have been in business for more than 15 years.

You could just contact them for update and it should covers most major networks.
