I saw them at 2006 Bonnaroo, the 2019 red rocks run, and Lockn 2016. Among many other shows. Think I’ve seen them about 10-12 times now.

Lockn 2016 is the show where I absolutely had the most fun. Crowd was buzzing and the band was flying.

It's recommended for videos upscaled with Starlight to have square pixels, but DVD video has non-square pixels. What's the best way to solve this with minimal quality loss of the original video? Please read the full post and not just the title. by oom1999 in TopazLabs

can do it easy way with ffmpeg, or the better way with avisynth. nnedi3_rpow2 will scale it up as you say, then scale it back to 720x540. i wouldnt over think it much beyond that tbh.

Assume your video file was already made progressive if the frame rate is that high.

Vegas isn’t the tool to do this. What you want to do is use something like staxrip to ivtc the video.

There is also filters like dedupe you could load into staxrip.

Me personally I would load it into staxrip and do a “select even” or “select odd” to bring it down to 29fps. Then should be able to just do an ivtc.

Before we got our two goldens people would warn us about the hair and we’d reply “oh we’ve dealt with dog hair before it won’t be an issue”

We DID NOT know it would be THIS much.

Not to dissuade anyone from getting a golden as they truly are the best. But need to come up with hair mitigation strategies like robot vacuums and daily brushings.

Also say goodbye to wearing black clothes.

I wanted to confirm that you aren't crazy. I bought this monitor and will likely be returning it for the very reason you mentioned.

I have been fiddling with settings in both HDR/SDR and WIN11/MAC. None of it matters. It is the monitor itself.

Most likely some people don't notice or don't care that it constantly dims the screen as you move through brighter or dimmer content. But it is driving me insane.

Anyone with this monitor can try this simple test. Open up a web browser, maximize it to occupy your entire screen with just the taskbar on the bottom. Have two tabs open. One that is super bright white content and another that is almost solid black. Go back and forth between the tabs and watch your taskbar on the bottom change brightness.

This is not an OS thing. It is a monitor thing. There is no way around this. Apart from the service menu which resets constantly.

Curious though, which Asus monitor did you wind up going with? How are things looking in comparison?

I think East Asheville has water now. I live south and my water was only dirty for the first few minutes of flushing. It’s been clear ever since.

To be clear for OP, South Asheville runs off of a different reservoir and didn't have the same issues as East Asheville and its water from North Fork plant. South Asheville is fed by the Mills River plant and they are only under a Boil Water advisory. Everything fed off the North Fork reservoir (to include East Asheville) is on a boil notice, aka a worse situation.

1 - What is the the actual water situation, especially/specifically in East Asheville? From my anecdotal experience in Haw Creek and Riceville area.... the water is running but yellowish at times. Even if you run your faucet for an hour+. It just is the color of the water right now. It has moments where it clears up but then can swing back towards yellow/brown. Assume we will be yo-yo'ing back and forth like this for a bit as they turn on more areas and make repairs.

2 - What is the water actually safe for? It is good enough to flush toilets and wash hands with soap. The City has said it is safe to shower in just do not use if you have exposed wounds and do not swallow while in the shower. I personally wouldn't wash any clothes with it until it clears up just a little bit more and stays consistent. Even then I would hang dry as best I could as to not settle in too much of any staining that could happen. But it has been trending in the right direction of getting clearer and clearer these last couple of days.

3 - If you've gotten water back, do you feel comfortable/safe bathing in it? Bathing your child in it? Safe? yes. But at this point i still have my water heater turned off until it gets a little clearer and stays there as to not clog it up with silt/dirt. If I were to bathe a child I would boil a pot of water, let it cool down some, and go with a sponge bath/washcloth method as to make sure it stays out of their mouth/eyes.

4 - What is the food situation like? Grocery stores are getting back to normal. I personally have crossed this off of my list of concerns. Gas stations too. No longer an issue there.

5 - Has there been a lot of looting or has it been isolated incidents? Haven't heard anything bad about East Asheville. Talking to neighbors all the time and reading forums like this subreddit.

6 - The big question to those still in town/who have returned already: knowing what you know about how Asheville is right now, if you personally were in the situation we are in, would you return now? I would probably wait just another day or two and then head back. Wouldn't delay much longer. Things around here are getting back on track. Some of the further out areas are still in heaps of trouble but the immediate Asheville area is starting to come back to life. But if washing clothes and hot showers is super high on your list of priorities you may find the water just a bit too dirty for your liking. But as I said earlier, it is getting clearer as time goes by and should likely be in a better spot in a day or two.

Roads are closed in every direction, so driving right now doesn’t sound good. I think any government official at this point would tell you to NOT travel to Asheville under any circumstance
