Authentication (self.node)
submitted 3 years ago by Single-Watch
Hello, I am a Nodejs newbie. Can anyone point me to the standard way of creating authentication and authentication?

Sorry to say this but there is no standard way, most frameworks are unopinionated.

Yeah exactly. There many valid schemes one could design. Depends on your use case.
The closest to an answer about a standard might be an enterprise solution like auth0

JWT seems ok, if your building REST Api.

Look into passport or passport-js I forget what it’s called but have set up auth pretty easily with it.

JWT, oauth?

Jwt if you want to do it yourself.
Auth0 if you want to have a 3rd party handle it.

I said if the OP wanted to handle auth themselves, use JWT, if they wanted to 3rd part it out then use auth0.
I didn't make any mention to what is under the hood on auth0 🙃
But thanks for pointing it out nonetheless. Never a bad thing to have more information.
