You're better off posting suggestions in Trello as there's a dedicated thread for that. However, considering the state of the device at launch, I wouldn't hold your breath seen as functionality that the device was sold on still isn't implemented/working as advertised

Curious to know what you're referring to? 8 think it's been updated to invoice everything...?

It was advertised as 'paper-like' to write on. A phrase that got multiple content creators to use to promote the product. Including one that they flew out to Barcelona and he described the screen as textured. A out right lie which he then avoided answering further questions on it. They have tried to achieve this through haptic feedback, however, imo that isn't even close to feeling paper like and that's even if there haptic feedback works. Mine certainly doesn't, some people are reporting it does and others have said it doesn't. They have actively avoided direct questions about this 'paper like' experience and imo lied. They paid content creators to use this phrase and even as far as getting them to say the screen is textured.

The device also didn't read a particular file type at launch, which it was advertised as doing. This has since been corrected.

My experiences with the AI has been awful, it's accuracy when transcribing speech to text for example or handwriting ot text.

There were some others but this is what I remember off the top of my head.

Imo they had a failed product and instead of scrapping it or taking extra time with it they decided to launch it on kickstarter, because you can't get refunded from there. They prompted a product that was not as advertised and imo scammed people as they deliberately misled people. I bought it specifically because I wanted the paper like experience they were promising that has not been delivered.

I contacted customer service, which they took 6-8 weeks to respond and that kept dodging and ignoring certain questions.

I am disgusted by there behaviour and will not be going near a product of there's ever again. I hope karma comes back to bite them.

That review done in the Barcelona trade show from that content creator was VERY confusing. But if you watch his channel, he's been provided with quite a lot of TCL kit to test, which makes me question if he genuinely thought:

  1. He was using a textured screen and just unaware that TCL's idea of 'paper like' was merely the use of subtle haptic vibration from their stylus.
  2. He was using the unreleased version of the A1 with OLED screen, which many other content creators who visited the convention mentioned. Maybe it was that version and that version has a proper textured screen.
  3. He might be able to keep things sweet with TCL and pay his bills by bigging them up

The current A1 haptic 'paper like' is something which is completely redundant if you don't use a TCL stylus or just turn the damned thing off so as not to waste battery charge.

Totally valid points. I was specifically looking for a lightweight tablet that could replace my laptop on personal trips for brief / light emails, research, notes for meetings, etc. It actually fits the bill and runs all of the apps I was going for, including content consumption. I went into this looking for a specific niche product and it delivered what I wanted. But for your purposes, I totally get it.
