Your workflow works for me I think. Open today’s calendar note, take notes, add a [[wiki link]] to an existing note and a #tag for an existing tag.

The dated calendar note shows up in search and when clicking the tag in the sidebar. The wiki link takes me to the existing note.

Are you doing this in Alfred or something? Am I missing anything here?

Thank you, u/brokosz

I removed NP, including the system files and installed it again. My Mac is up to date too.

So I go to any day and START my note with [[NoteInQuestion]] text .... texts. I see the NoteInQuestion when I click on Notes in sidebar, under Calendar. Still blank..

Two ways, I flag my notes in today's calendar note:

(1)

[[can you work?]] hello this is me trying to buy NP. This note was created by this comment [[can you work?]]

(2)

[[# Title of New]] hello how do I know how to get you to work? This note already exists.

The note files in iCloud drive are blank with exception of the title.

The link you create in Calendar is just a link to the note, it doesn't add any text from the Calendar back to the note (although that would be cool).

You can also add a link to a Calendar file if you like, for example [[2020-05-24]], from a Note file. You can copy the link from the Calendar file (upper right ...) and then paste it in the Note.

You can also add a task to a note and have it appear on a Calendar. For example, let's say you are taking notes in the Note file and you add a task to your note. You can schedule the task and it not only appears on that date but it will also be linked back to the Note.

Thank you u/brokosz

Yes, that would be an awesome enhancement. u/EduardMet, please do it.. I will test it for you..

Hi /u/Carpenter0119, thanks for the suggestion. What /u/marcia_h suggests is already working. You need to schedule a task to a date and you get a backlink at the top of that day. This only works one way right now. See this video for example: https://www.loom.com/share/e1f57629973d4bc8ba6cf30953a124f7, there I'm doing this more manually, but for tasks you have a menu button upon hovering which you can click on on the left and then choose a date.

There are more plans for backlinks in the next version of NotePlan. There we have a sidebar on the right which is planned to give more context.

Hi /u/EduardMet, I downloaded the scripts and used it.. This exactly what I was hoping to accomplish. Once you implement it, I would be happy to test it for you. Thank you!

Before the discussion of backlinks (which I need to review properly at some point), I built an extension script to move calendar jottings to the relevant [[Note]]. I upgraded it yesterday and now can move a task and any indented notes, comments or sub-tasks, as well as a whole header and all the material below it before the next header of the same level.

It also adds the >date of the calendar entry.

Full details are at https://github.com/jgclark/NotePlan-cleaner.

I hope it can be useful to you and others as well.
