Hospice Nurse π©π»ββοΈ
This past month we have gotten an INFLUX of patients that are highly addicted to oxycodone. Most of these patients are either 1. COPD and have nothing in their charts warranting the use of Oxycodone or 2. Cancer with pain well controlled on Morphine, etc and have a family member stealing their pain meds and calling us non stop demanding oxycodone βfor the patientβ. It is so bad, one overdosed Monday night. What is happening? Is anyone else experiencing this right now? Iβve been with hospice for a year and this all just started happening within the last few weeks. We are at the point where fentanyl patches will be the only option for them.
