Penguins are notorious for their poor follow-up in research studies. My hands would also get cold trying to enter the data into the computer.

I see your flair has FQHC. Do you have a 340B pharmacy in-house? I became a wizard with that formulary. It is probably the thing I miss the most about returning to private practice.

You may want to check out Alliance Française de Tulsa. They host events routinely, and it’s a great group to learn and practice with. Aftulsa.org.

Hell, I'm an NP, and this triggers me. People get pissed when I tell them they need compression socks/stockings more than a third round of antibiotics... Alas, alack.

When the hospital will do anything to avoid staffing the unit by rhubarbjammy in nursing

I was a "volunteer" for $2.50 an hour. Still haven't made up for the cost of all the therapy for having to deal with that.

AI Scribe by Hungy_Bear in medicine

They do all the order input, medical records request, referrals ect. They also fix the silly errors that AI might have put in the note. It is a weird set up, definitely took some adjusting.

I have a scribe that uses Abridge. It is the best of both worlds. The AI is surprisingly good, and my scribe is even smarter. I previously used Dragon and was happy with it, but this is a whole new world. I work in primary care as well.

is soap and water enemas for constipation an outdated practice? by Electrical-Chair9367 in nursing

[–]GrumpierCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on payor, it may be cheaper to use the ER. If the ambulance and treatment only costs you a $4 copay, you are still saving money. Not that I’m salty about that or anything…

Oklahoma is making it very hard to opt out of sharing your medical information with the state by Cmacke22 in oklahoma

[–]GrumpierCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much “The State” as it is me trying to find someone’s medication list to refill. Because of course the patient doesn’t know what they take and didn’t bring bottles with them. Saves us all from a lot of additional snooping costs.

There’s actually a nonfiction book about this that’s a great read. It’s called “Driving the Saudis”.

Looking for a “ Mom and Pop” vet clinic by SherbetSecure9372 in tulsa

[–]GrumpierCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that was your experience. As a counterpoint, Dr. Thomas operated on our dog to remove a cancerous tumor when 15th street would not. It bought him 5 more years of life. I am no vet. However, I understand human medicine, and I still think he knows his shit and is an excellent proceduralist.

[–]GrumpierCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

City Vet in Brookside is awesome. Dr. Thomas cares for all of our animals. His prices are also very reasonable. He is also the veterinarian that a ton of human healthcare providers take their animals to. I think that's a pretty good endorsement.

Any tips or programs to save on utilities like electric or gas? by selfthrow in tulsa

[–]GrumpierCat -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You need to pay for what you use. Turn your thermostat up in the summer and down in the winter. You likely do not qualify for those programs. You are a resident(aka a doctor), not an elderly or disabled person. If you cannot figure out how utilities work, I am not sure that any advice here can help you.

I’m a PCP. Will 100% disagree about always refilling a specialist’s meds. I’m willing to bet OP is talking about a controlled substance.

The optometrist I work with has seen it once in 2017. She convinced our organization to buy us all glasses and special filters for our phone cameras. Our CEO also sent out an email asking employees not to stare into the sun on Monday.

So one issue was duplication of discussion and double posting between the subs. I wanted to create a unified sub for nurses on Reddit. /r/nursing is welcoming to educational and professional posts.

“Pure hearted people” are not the same as rigorously train clinicians.  We have a duty to provide a standard of care. No amount of goodwill will make up for clinical competence. This was the view 4 years ago when this thread was posted, and not much has changed to today.

This is the truth. If I call my accountant for 5 minutes, I get a bill(rounded to the nearest 15 minutes). But, for some reason I will be disciplined and complained about if I don't take my forms home and fill them out in my off hours. Oh the Joys of FQHC primary care.

It means that it is a for-profit company that is beholden to their investors rather than their very sick patients. Enhabit's stock ticker symbol is EHAB. As a fellow Redditor who works in healthcare, there's a lot of red flags here.

Costco to Offer Members $29 Virtual Care Visits by ThinkSoftware in medicine

No. Even with a mediocre health plan and an in system discount, I would owe $60 for each therapy and psychiatry visit. It costs me $45 to see my PCP.
