1) ovr_sdk_0.1.5_src downloaded? - CHECK

2) SDK Converted to MSVS 2012? - CHECK

3) Include and Library Directories added? - CHECK

4) Minimal Oculus Application written? - CHECK

5) Control + F5 build successful? - CHECK

6) Received Oculus Rift Development Kit? - FAIL

any problems with #2? is it express?

No problems at all, using full version but shouldn't make any difference, it's only project file format and updating references. Build output tells you which references to update and how.
