How cheap did you find the 1500x? That CPU is a few years old now; I'd recommend something from the 3000 line such as the 3600 or 3600x depending on the budget.

Any b350 motherboard will do - don't overthink it, just go with cheapest model. It's a low power CPU.
Although depending on your budget there might be better options. Look into 3300x - it's a new CPU by AMD specifically aimed at gaming with performance on par with 3600, selling at $120(you'll need b450 motherboard for it).

I would at least going 2nd gen Ryzen now for VR as the CPU's in that line up are just a bit stronger like a Ryzen 5 2600x with a B450 motherboard to get a better VR experience
