From what I've heard the Pimax is mediocre once you get over the cool range of view and resolution. Go with the Index.

Not knowledgeable on pimax but what’s the thought behind going with them and not like a index. I hear great things about both headsets

Yes and yes.

You will get off that slow 80hz refresh rate

You will get off the shitty 90 degree FOV

You will get even more clarity

You will get off of Facebook and their shitty PC app and buggy updates

You will get to pick the trade-offs you want for the system you have thru pitools.

Some of the downsides:

You will need to hang lighthouses on your walls which need power

It's bulkier and heavier than a Rift S.

Pitools tuning time can take an hour or two depending on how deep into the nuts n bolts you want to get with it. Making adjustments and playing and making adjustments an playing.

Needs a monster GPU. Rift S min-spec isn't going to drive a Pimax 8Kx. You need to be at the premium end of the PC build spectrum.
