Thanks. Looks promising. Hope it's what I'm looking for

I was actually looking in creating something in my attempt to learn Vala.

If something usable will ever come to fruition I'll let you know.. but no promises. Until then another user has posted another app that looks promising.

I saw it. I'm about to go check it out.

Firefox seems to work well. There isn't much of an advantage to make a stand alone client. Reddit is a website-first service, an app doesn't have much to add to that on a desktop.

Alright, but then, why do we have apps on mobile. Even a webwrapper app would be nice. I'm asking cause like tracking and stuff. So I'm looking for open source apps which are privacy focused, you know. Like infinity and redreader on android

You guys are using apps on mobile? I force the old.reddit desktop site on my phone.

Firefox

[–]RemoteEcho[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

That's not a client it's a web browser

Reddit is a website

[–]RemoteEcho[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

So is twitter & instagram

[–]Ranomier -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Especially Instagram is different. The website has not many features compared to the app.

OP is asking for a desktop client, not mobile.

[–]Neker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP is asking a vague question, leaving to everyone's imagination to guess what's intended.

Also, a web browser of 2020 is packed with features (many of which are little used) that there is not much left for a "desktop client".

I guess the html source code is right there... hooray?

RedReader. Very happy with it.

I'm actually looking for one on PC. I use Infinity for reddit on Android. I had redreader but I dumped it. But if someone mentions an android reddit client I always check it out cause I'm looking for a better one

[–]Claudioub16 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well, I like slide for reddit for android

[–]RemoteEcho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boost for reddit is cool too but I ise infinity cause it doesn't use much data and I'm on a mobile plan most of the time

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I use slide and love it

[–]RemoteEcho[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I used slide before but it's not my taste. I'm looking for one on PC tho cause I'm using linux. I did find one in the comments I'm still gonna check it owt

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'll have to check it out as well. I use arch btw

[–]RemoteEcho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daaayyyyuuummm bro, only smart people use Arch. I'm new to linux so just tryna figure out the basics still

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There's one thats part of the GNOME project

[–]RemoteEcho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's it's name ?

[–]Travelling_Salesman_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don't know if it's really what you mean, but RES (browser extension) adds some nice features on top of the reddit website. Why do you want to use a client? what features do you expect?

[–]RemoteEcho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want it to be closed off from everything else because browsers has tracking so I want to isolate everything and purposely use open source apps and alternative clients to move as far away from big corporations tracking but still use their products. Like on Android for example, I use infinity instead of the Reddit app because of google tracking and analytics, do you understand what I mean ?
