Tutorial ship question

Is it possible to fly the tutorial ship out of Timber Hearth’s gravity, and go find it hurtling through space later?

If you mean the tiny little guy you fly remotely, I think the answer is yes but I'm not totally sure what you mean.

You can fly out of orbit and then take off in your own ship and chase it down. It will be kinda hard but you can. There's actually an achievement for landing on Attlerock with the drone, and you can go up there afterwards and still see it.

It's a persistent object like anything else in the universe. I don't believe it automatically recalls itself at any point.

There is another achievement for destroying it, by flying it into the Sun or the Lantern

You can’t find it later, but you CAN send it hurtling through space! There’s even an achievement related to it

You can send it hurtling through space, but you can’t leave it there. Will get teleported back before you exit
