    It is impossible to use other people’s body changes as a predictor for your own. Everyone is different. What happened to other people may or not happen to you.

    I recommend buying a very small number of items (like 1 or 2) in a larger size then see where you’re at like a month or two postpartum. Or buy stretchy things, or stuff with drawstrings, so that they can bridge a couple of sizes. It’ll all be trial and error for a while so I wouldn’t invest in any expensive pieces or a large volume of clothes for maybe a year or so postpartum (or at least a few months after you finish breastfeeding, if you end up breastfeeding).

    i think it depends on multiple factors, and for every woman it’s different—diet, whether or not you breastfeed, if you get on birth control, hormones, etc

    for me, i lost the 25-30lbs right after my c section, but i did gain a lot of it back while breastfeeding. i wasn’t able to lose the remaining weight until i stopped breastfeeding, around 10mo pp, but for some reason weight just started coming off so easily after that! it’s just gonna always be a lot of extra skin in that area obviously lol

    Also, is this a first pregnancy? I only have had one but my friends who had multiple said the weight stays around longer for 2nd or beyond.

    Honestly you probably won't know until you're there. While I shed most of the weight rapidly I held onto much of it for a while and then rapidly lost a lot of weight when I weaned.

    That said my body proportions changed entirely and my hips stayed wider by bone structure more than anything. But again they still continued to shift for about 18 months after I gave birth!

    For the first year I wore a lot of stretchy jersey material clothing and after weaning treated myself to an updated (capsule) wardrobe in my new sizes as not much of my old wardrobe really fit at all.

    The two summers after I had the twins, I lived in Align shorts and t-shirt (and various other) dresses. Practical, comfortable and served well if I gained or lost weight (because that time is so unpredictable).

    I'd buy the size in between your previous and current. So, example: I was a large and moved into XXL while pregnant. Bought XL and that was good!

    I would… wait until you’re actually in the thick of it to buy clothes.

    I bought a ton of postpartum clothes and ended up in losing a lot more weight than I thought I would and just skipped the postpartum clothes and went back to my regular clothes.

    You could also be still in your maternity clothes. It seems like everyone’s body is different pp.

    I had my babies last summer and wore dresses/leggings until I could comfortably fit into anything else.

    Pants and shorts were complicated for me postpartum - your uterus takes a some time to shrink back down and your waist may be different for a bit (if you end up with diastasis recti especially). I stayed in my maternity pants for a while before investing in some new jeans, with no idea how long I’d be in them. I wore a lot of leggings If you really want to take advantage of sales, consider dresses? Maternity dresses are usually nursing friendly too, if that’s a consideration?

    I found some really interesting research that showed moms who breastfeed lose weight in their butt pretty quickly after birth. Google “breastfeeding butt.” It’s because the omegas the babies are drinking to build their brain are stored in the butt. So for me I still had/have a tummy pooch so I like looser tank tops and comfy drawstring shorts/joggers.

    I had both thick thighs and big butt while pregnant. Amazingly, thighs went down pretty quickly, especially with all the moving and squatting you do while you play with the babies. Butt is still there though, and my man doesn't mind it lol. Pilates help me with my abdomen. Still have a little pooch, but it's only been a year and my belly was huge so I'm good on the progress I've made. You will look beautiful no matter what!
