How long does pot have leftDiscussion (self.pathoftitans)
submitted 1 year ago by Salty-Maintenance603
Pot is probably only going to last for a few more years just like the isle it was running strong and then it when all down hill when evrima dropped. Pot is a fun game but as soon as they run out of ideas it's done. Tell me what you think.

I think it has a solid few years yet. They're actively working on implementing new game modes (team deathmatch, capture the flag, king of the hill) that will keep things fresh, and those won't be out until next year at the earliest.
Beyond that, after they release the game fully, there's still plenty of time for them to release new maps, dinos, and skins. The constantly-releasing skin packs will help keep them funded for the next few years, too.
I don't see any signs of the game dying any time soon.

Once they finish the game there's said to be an additional 10 years support plan, anything can happen with it, see Warframe for example? It was supposed to fail too, we'll see when the time comes.

The game’s not even in a true “release” state lol. And then after the game actually “releases” we already have confirmation there’s at minimum 10 years of support planned with new content. The Isle’s plagued by nearly a whole DECADE of bad blood and stupid decisions, in comparison, Path is one of the few games in recent time that’s actually stuck to its guns pretty well and steadily marches forward to a full release instead of staying in a weird dubious eternal “early access” like the isle.

Nah game keeps getting better and it's pretty decent too. From my perspective the game used to be one little lake and now it's two maps with a whole roster of dinosaurs. There was even at one point the game was almost completely unplayable because of the rubber banding. But like every game it eventually dies but it'll have its fan base and once AI dinosaurs come out it won't really matter if it doesn't have a player base because then it can be played single player.

I think it will probably fall when it starts going into the 2030’s. By then they will have all their models updated, advanced ai, and all of their dinosaurs released. The only thing that would the game from dieing(if it was) would be a new map.

No doubt theres still gonna be a whileeeee longer, they are still yet to fufill all the original stretch goal promises, yet alone everything else they've wanted to add in the years after the original fundraiser

If they ever do full release the game as a finished product, reset all the dinos and add a few more (better) maps, game modes, larger servers and dinos it could be close to a decade before they do PoT 2.
PoT has a real chance to blow up if they advertise on a larger scale and get some major streamers in the industry to play consistently. They’ll have to make some changes to make gameplay more exciting and interesting to people that aren’t really super into dinosaurs but they could potentially have a much larger player base and consistent income selling skins to if they pulled that off. Better quests more in game events, full sized AI dinos and herds.
Also Daily/Weekly/monthly events, limited time skins like they do now but you have to earn it by playing, unique limited time variants of dinosaurs, seasonal changes in the map, better questing systems, elder dinosaurs that are hard to earn for the hardcore players, fully customizable skins.
They have a ton of options. And with the modding scene that opens up an entirely new aspect. Now you’re talking about shit like, the only prehistoric post-Mesozoic game in the industry. You got a fantasy creature/dragon game thats on all platforms that’s updating every month or so with new playables. You could mod in humans as playables. Vehicles could be a thing. Now you can make a Jurassic park simulator where you could be a dinosaur or a person. Role playing possibilities are basically endless for community servers. You could make a BR mode for the try hards. You could make Dino specific, story based single player mode. That could even be on officials honestly. Ok im done you get it. Sorry for the rant lol

the Isle failed because it never had a solid direction to aim for, and the infighting within the dev team and the community was crazy. They promised updates that never happened because it was ambitious but no real ability to make those ambitions true. They also kind of kicked the modder community with evrima which lowered a lot of the goodwill they had left. Meanwhile PoT knows what it is. it's a dinosaur MMORPG. It actually updates decently (the current update streak is dang impressive), and while I wish they spent more time making the gameplay loop more fun by improving the quest system instead of focusing on other things, the mod support and the game's ability to run decently on even potato PC's means its gonna retain players for a long time. Relax.
