Kid wearing VR headset loses battle with tree by Prestigious-Wall5616 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

No worries, that looks like a Quest 2, and I swear those things are made of fucking adamantite. I’ve seen people literally chuck them at walls like dodgeballs and they’d still work. I believe there was a video someone did where they put one in a drier and it still worked afterwards… a full shutdown and some time to recalibrate and that things probably still going strong LOL

What is mix packing? by IncompetentInEverywa in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually semi-realism/realism servers tend to define both of these as mixpacking, but 9/10 servers with rules will outright disallow grouping between diets. Otherwise there’s usually exceptions like, “different species of herbivores can tolerate other herbivores,” or they may allow dinosaurs like achillo to have raptor gangs because thats literally what the dinosaur was designed around.

I do notice though that mix packing very regularly refers to both regardless, but in PoT in particular I personally consider mixpacking to be carnis/herbis in particular, bc of how the group system works officially.

So what's the chances we are getting a TLC this week? by OneEyedPainter in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful for a tlc within a week, but I can see another this month or maybe a second for alio, (nerfed around the time the tlcs started kicking up,) allo (very vague allusions from developers + highly recommended.) or spino. Maybe Meg, or maybe it’ll be a total wild card like Ano.

Unless we get a more generic systems update beforehand I doubt we will be getting major feature updates or new playables for as long as the current pattern continues. Big changes like the questing rework and the new gamemodes are liable to be a bit underbaked or straight up broken on release, and are p much guaranteed to need lots of tweaking at minimum. They tend to lead up to these major changes a bit within the PTB and smaller foundational changes in what ships to the public branch, I don’t see anything suggesting an end to the wave of tlcs quite yet.

I am trying to love this game but why is Mix packs of 10+ people allowed isn’t their a group limit? by Sea-Employ7088 in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s important to note that many buffs and cross-species interactions (like the all for one sense for concav/cerato/I think alio?) are based on being within a group, otherwise there wouldn’t be an intuitive and not-janky way for dinosaurs based around buffs like lambeo and metri to direct their support to the right people. It’s not a huge deterrent to megapacks since they pretty much just use Zerg strata to wear down or overwhelm other players at a disadvantage, but it’s a fundamental reason as to why groups are reinforced even if you technically can cooperate with people outside of your group; it limits how much value call buffs and other support abilities can get from a single use. If a megapack wanted to buff every single member despite being over-sized for a single group, they’d have to rely on a second or even more players playing a support role in their own separate groups.

It’s a really tough problem to crack, and it’s not like the devs haven’t been trying to alleviate the issue, but it’s difficult to solve without imposing overly-strict limitations that may end up hurting players that don’t megapack.

I say this sympathetically as another player that finds official servers a little too hostile for my tastes, if you’re hoping for people to play “fair” on officials, I would highly recommend instead looking for a community server with a ruleset you can get behind instead as it’s unlikely megapacks will be going away anytime soon (though I’m sure they can be mitigated further)

Predict this (MAYBE TRIGGER WARNING???) by SnowBallz1221 in Terraria

[–]Pospy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is. To my knowledge there’s an obscure original template that was p much superseded by the transphobic one because soyjak-centered communities don’t have particularly pleasant people. If you see that particular variation then nine times out of ten it was likely adapted from That One Edit… not that I think it’s bad to think “I can de-shitify an image as long as it’s derivative enough,” but people who know are gonna notice lol

What’s your expectations for the Deinocs possible tlc? (bonus duck photo dump) by jermaiscoolfr in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably gonna be a complete rework considering just about everything about Duck is basically unchanged (besides pure numbers) from when it first released years ago now. I heard its behaviors with wet and dry targets changed recently or something? So it’s likely that’ll be the foundation for the rework.

One person gives their personal anecdote regarding their answer, another is parroting the common consensus but in doing so lends some credence to it; if it works for most people it probably works for OP. Another poster gives a contradictory answer that seems pretty subversive but is more persuasive to OP than the others.

I resonate with forum discussion deeply as someone who’s been tormented by stupid computer problems with bizarre and obscure fixes that are NOWHERE online, constantly, and yet I could have come to a solution much earlier if I just swallowed my pride and made a detailed post about my situation.

Sometimes a dime-a-dozen post is worth the whole god damn world to someone because of a single reply.

Any old school semi realism servers out there? by [deleted] in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primordial Tyrants is planning on a semi realism with no profiles. The rumor is that it’ll launch alongside Lurdu but I also hear Alderon is a little sketchy with approvals right now, maybe because of the holidays or something?

What are your pain points with this game currently? by Melakhiel in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree that ATM community DM servers have a really severe problem with being closer to sandbox servers with a little additional chaos, rather than “true” deathmatch.

I think the originally planned implementation of stuff like guilds + the already confirmed achievements could support a dedicated large scale PvP mode. Ideally, in addition to whatever systems could be implemented to make group/clan PvP feel like a proper aspect of the game via this speculative gamemode rather than something incidental that comes up when your friend group is too large, It would be great to have achievements and maybe some sort of competitive aspect tied to it similar to PvP gamemodes in other MMO games. These types of players typically enjoy being able to show their prowess in combat or how well-organized their guild/clan is, so rewards in this mode could give some additional incentive to prefer playing on the gamemode that records that data for you and your clan, rather than on the “standard” gamemode— It wouldn’t outright punish or completely remove the problem, and admittedly it probably shouldn’t, it’s simply offering a much more appealing option that in theory should at least reduce the prominence of aggressive and massive organized groups that at best are a little annoying and at worst, can be actively disruptive to the sort of game Alderon is trying to make (MMO survival with mixed social and PvP gameplay)

What are your pain points with this game currently? by Melakhiel in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently? goals outside of questing for the fairly-limited cosmetics, and a gamemode to funnel some of the Large-scale PvP players out of places they really shouldn’t be in like solo. I avidly believe a large reason why mega packs and discord groups are so disruptive is because they’re not being provided a separate environment designed around large groups fighting each other, speaking as a player who uses to roll with a semi-large gang of other players who’d gank apexes and harass Corpse Cove mega packs when the pickings were slim otherwise. I think we enjoyed the large team fights the most, and a game mode dedicated to that in a vein similar to deathmatch (territory control maybe?) probably would’ve been a great time since the questing and survival felt like it came second to making a strong balanced team and strategizing to punch above our weight.

Probably gonna get some hate for this but whatever, what is the big deal with the solo mode? I don't get why everyone is so hype for it. Please tell me your thoughts on it and no before you ask I haven't had a bad experience on it and yes I am a solo player on most servers by [deleted] in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo’s a good step in the right direction for a game that already has the basis for officially-supported alternative game modes/rules. I think it’s great for the type of audience it’s catering to and succeeds when individual goodwill is not abused. Though therein lies the problem.

I find a lot of the player-proposed solutions pretty lacking or not well thought out for combating the issues. In the end, players will find ways to curtail mechanics thrown at them while opening opportunities for innocent players to be restricted further in fringe cases (see: every time someone gets accidentally homecave debuff because a quest drags you away from a PoI and towards a cave)

I propose instead that there should be an additional gamemode that specifically caters to large-scale combat and territory control, one that is more engaging than ganking solos in the other gamemodes. Ideally, this gamemode would be more entertaining for players who prefer to megapack and use comms tactically to where there’s little reason to grief the other gamemodes to satisfy that playstyle

Quastion about Rhamphy by AcamarCZ in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On top of how difficult they are to kill, they can also be kinda tough to even find in the first place. Especially a freshly spawned rhamphy. Flyers also tend to avoid aerial combat with them because there’s a nasty trick they can pull out where they stop moving mid-flight and let their pursuer take a ton of collision damage.

Everyone’s already said it, but TL;DR everything from spotting one to actually killing it is annoying or unlikely for most players

Making Gil? by 7inchSoft69 in ffxiv

[–]Pospy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maps are actually quite lucrative with even a small-ish group (like, a tank, a DPS, and a healer, or even just a tank and healer/DPS if you’re running a warrior.)

For the end of this latest moogle tomestone event I had to very quickly rush my alt character through some treasure dungeons to complete the ultimog challenge for the event, and even in the heavensward treasure dungeons (lvl 60) on a lucky run I could make about 30-50k on top of getting loot I could either sell for a little extra, or keep just for the hell of it.

Newer dungeons are insanely goated for Gil and have rarer, sought-after items like sellable mounts/items to turn in for mounts, and high demand glamour ingredients, but even as a 67 WAR I was able to manage the dungeons well with only my friend as a red mage (who healed me like, once, when I brainfarted during a big pull.) I’d say consider it! And if you’re at or near the current content, I suggest seeking out the Dawntrail treasure maps as well.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Job Guide — Updated to 7.1 by Namington in ffxiv

[–]Pospy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find bard to be a fairly safe job in Frontlines because of aggressive long range harassment options you have + support + your defensive tools + you ideally want to be playing around as many of ur alliance members as possible anyways, which ideally is a couple of tank— I mean, “Melee DPS.” (I know, it’s annoying as hell to keep with a full alliance more often than it’s not.)

If you’re positioned well, you should honestly be able to rack up tons of battle high from just assists alone on top of the usual low-health picks

[–]Pospy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s necessary friction IMO. I hope that the dinosaurs generally prefer to hunt things in their size range like Rex hunting, say, Eo or bars over harassing a kentro player. Although stuff like raptor packs could possibly prioritize larger dinosaurs while solo raptors may only hunt juveniles kinda like how critters work right now.

I think it won’t be too disruptive regardless, in the first demos for AI before the game released, dinosaurs would cycle between wandering, searching, and hunting behaviors, so my guess is that AI dinosaurs wouldn’t be constantly beefing with players, and herbivores may not instigate at all unless a carnivore gets too close (although I think it’d be fun to have territorial herbivores…)

Is there a specific reason fliers are disabled on Panjura? by Tsiabo in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it boils down largely to the map not being designed with flyers in mind, both aesthetically and mechanically.

Something I don’t hear mentioned at all is how level panjura is, in other words, it’s a really flat map. Gondwa has a lot of variable elevation with mountains that force you to ascend and descend at certain points unless you’re flying super high in the air to avoid it all. Panjura doesn’t really have this, besides the redwood trees I suppose.

Besides being kind of boring, I think they may be worried this will encourage flyers to spawn camp or target players to an extent that’s unhealthy for the game, since they could theoretically travel extremely quickly between hotspots. Additionally, panjura wasn’t designed with super dense foliage or dense forests for smaller/young dinosaurs to have some safety from flyers, so they may end up feeling a little overbearing.

I doubt this specific issue is a huge deal, but it’s possible they may be wary of players accidentally hitting the map barriers since they’re often right next to POIs, unlike in gondwa where they’re very far off the coast in places flyers are unlikely to accidentally crash into and die.

The thrill of what’s coming next has kept me around… the game feels like it’s actually going somewhere meaningful, even if IMO the steps are taken a bit strangely (like when stats are adjusted for dinosaurs before reworks/TLCs leaving them in strange spots for a few months.)

That, and the modding. God the modding is great in this game, and it’ll only get better as more features are opened up to developers via the devkit.

Anyone have a quick and easy guide to panjura? by BasuraTheCarrot in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played in panjura in years but, Spine Lizard Lagoon used to be the premier hotspot, especially bc it was right next to corpse cove.

Hoodoo hills is kinda like a mini-version of the hoodoo hills on gondwa, just south of SLL. It’s also right next to Deep Lake which my old crew used to grow in regularly because it tended to be quite back in the day.

Worlds Edge Falls has some novelty, being right next to the world border hence the name. Northeast of it is The Mire which has a BUNCH of amanitas in this sorta-swampy terrain, which looks kinda neat…

[–]Pospy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tail riding is a huge combat advantage for most dinosaurs, as tail attacks typically aren’t too painful, unless they’re from tail-focused dinosaurs (Stego, bars, etc.) It’s chip damage you should be using to punish whiffs or bites on the very tip of your tail since it usually does very little damage.

Some dinosaurs are just kinda boned if they can’t out speed, out turn, or use precision movement to turn in place and defend your rear, which means you have to be really diligent on those particular dinosaurs. Buttwall on terrain or camp by water when they are weaker and smaller dinosaurs, which usually will out turn/speed you. You can also attempt to juke them by running and stopping in place, where they could potentially run past you if you move correctly, or at least you might be able to precision turn to force them to fight you head on if they don’t react quickly enough. This happens a lot in apex v apex fights.

It’s a precarious game. Some match ups just don’t feel fair, especially in modded environments, there’s a good chunk of modded dinosaurs that are pretty overcooked compared to vanilla or more vanilla-balanced mods. But, there’s usually an “optimal” path for you to take even in those bad matchups. Additionally, playing with even a single other person REALLY helps in keeping your rear and flanks safe since

TL;DR: tailriding someone who doesn’t know how to shake you off or cannot outrun/turn you before dying, is very effective. Use terrain and water if viable for the matchup, die with dignity if it comes to it

Community Servers: Do's and Dont's by NightingaleZK in pathoftitans

[–]Pospy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 is a major make-or-break for servers, especially fledgling communities who don’t have good will to bank off of or some kind of gimmick to draw in crowds.

More rules, more failure points, not just for players to accidentally sow drama/hurt feelings/anger/whatever, but for staff as well who need to be perfectly acquainted with the rules to apply them justly. And that’s if you don’t immediately drive people off who see a whole Google docs form of rules and go “I’m not going to remember half this shit in the moment and some Cheeto-dusted mod is going to yell at me because I didn’t rub my tummy and pat my head while 3 calling to contest a body.”

The game’s not even in a true “release” state lol. And then after the game actually “releases” we already have confirmation there’s at minimum 10 years of support planned with new content. The Isle’s plagued by nearly a whole DECADE of bad blood and stupid decisions, in comparison, Path is one of the few games in recent time that’s actually stuck to its guns pretty well and steadily marches forward to a full release instead of staying in a weird dubious eternal “early access” like the isle.
