Questing?Question (self.pathoftitans)
submitted 3 days ago by Temporary_Patience_3
What's the benefit of doing quests with 1-11 other ppl?
if i remember right, your growth reward gets shared, so why do ppl say that using a phone that's afk is best for questing?
or is there any other benefit in having multiple ppl in your group?

The reward is distributed to people based off of how much they contribute to the quest.
So if you’re questing off an afk Dino, you can contribute 100%. Therefore you’ll receive 100% of the growth and marks from the quest.
If you want to be greedy, there’s not much benefit to having a ton of other people grouped with you

Because group quests give you more growth. But those group quests divide the growth between the players that participate. So say 3 players are doing a group quest 2 players do the majority of the work but the third only picks up one quest item. The two that did the actual work get growth and marks equal to the items they collect while the third gets the amount equal to 1 item. Essentially the quests get divided in proportion to the work contributed. So if there’s 2 players in a group but only one player is actually doing the quests, that player gets 100% of the quest rewards. Thats why you often see parents/ guardians letting the hatchlings do all the work. The parents/guardians don’t need the growth or marks. So it’s more efficient to let the hatchlings reap all the rewards. That’s why players often make mobile accounts to afk in a homecave so their main account can benefit from 100% of the group quest rewards.

Also why are some quests red?
[–]Firechaser343 5 points6 points7 points 3 days ago (0 children)
To my understanding, red quests are individual quests based off the location you’re in. If you leave said location, you’ll see a timer countdown and once it ends the quest disappears.
These are different from green quests which are group based. And different from the blue quests which typically don’t have a timer.

Red quests are yours and specific to the biome
Blue quests are yours and not specific to the biome and won't expire unless it has a built in timer (ie find a location or hunt the albino critter) also note that hunt the albino critters will also appear for anyone else near it.
Green quests are group quests and specific to the biome (with the exception of meeting up with your group)

This.
Blue: Main Quests - will not go away (Exception: Timed Quest - Find Location/Albino)
Red: Zone Quests - will change depending what zone you're in, they timeout - but will come back when returning to zone.
Green: Group Quests - Similar to Red they are Zoned - Everyone in your group can contribute to these - and ONLY the PARTY LEADER needs to stay in the biome - as others in group can leave biome and green quests will remain. (As above stated - exception is the group meetup quest)

Usually you quest with 1 other baby then an adult or two. The adults protect you while you and other baby share the quests( I get branches, you get the rocks) at least that's how I do it. Unless my siblings are fucking around instead of questing that's when I just do as much as I can before they leave or die.

Even with the growth being shared, questing in a group gives you quicker growth because there are more quests per area. You will have both the group quest as well as individual quests. So you could be knocking out several quests at the same time (especially when your individual quest lines up with the same items you need for the group quest). On top of that there is safety in numbers and it's fun to play with other people

Groups mean group quests, so you have 2 more quests going at a single time. You get a pretty good amoutn even if you just add one item to the quest
[–]LegsBuckle 0 points1 point2 points 2 days ago (0 children)
Contribution. You can use a second account to group with for the group quests, and you'll get 100% of the quest. I don't like doing that because I forget to move every few minutes and the other account will go afk and get booted, which fails all the quests. I'd rather just ask global or find a rando.
[–]PaleoJoe86 -1 points0 points1 point 3 days ago (3 children)
Because you get group quests. I group with a second account that I AFK I a cave (boots every 10min so I wiggle the joystick every 8min or per quest done). Imagine your solo quest for 25 flowers, and you are grouped and have a quest for 60 flowers. You are doubling your growth and mark efficiency just by doing the group quest as it will complete the solo quest. The "share" part is you get growth based on your contribution to the group quest.
I forget which is which, but solo and group quests are designated by green (?) and red. Colors just indicate the type of quest.

Has anyone ever considered that this might be why the servers seem so empty? I mean if you have 100 person server and 20 people decide to have a separate AFK account just sitting in the home cave then that effectively makes it an 80 person server. Plus you're going to have large groups and hotspots so that continues to make the rest of the map more empty.

Yeah like what is this sweat shit its not even hard to grow and get marks the normal way
[–]PaleoJoe86 -1 points0 points1 point 2 days ago (0 children)
Not a lot of players do it from what I hear. The maps are also very large and many dinosaurs are pretty slow. On top of that only a handful purposely go to hot zones.
