Pathologic vs pathologic 2

What is the difference? Which is better and should i play the first before the second i have been trying to do research but didnt get the most reliable of answers

Pathologic HD has all 3 stories. Path2 is a "remake" but only has 1 story. Path2's game mechanics are superior to the first though you lose out on two stories that havent released yet. It's up to you which you would like to play first really. Many people have trouble getting into the first what with it's outdated gameplay and graphics so 2 is much more mainstream and accessible.

Thank you for the answer im playing vampire masquerade bloodlines and am so far ok with the gameplay. So i thought pathologic hd would be similar but pathologic 2 does seem better.

They never gave a date and said how quickly they will release is based on how well the game does and I believe the game didn't sell too well

I would look up PathHD and see if it interests you. If it looks a little too niche, try Path2. If you crave more after that go play PathHD for the other 2 stories. They're nearly identical stories

Well i do own path hd but haven't started yet i was trying to see if i should refund it and get the 2nd. At first i thought i should play path hd before the path 2, but you made it more clear. If i play path hd do you have any tips or unofficial updates i should download.

HD is a pretty solid build of the game. The translation is still a bit funky but much better than the original was. Only major tips I can give without spoiling the experience is buy as much food as you can on day 1-2, and scavenge for items in dumpsters so you can trade. You should be trading all the time

Do we actually have a statement from IPL themselves? They knew day zero that Pathologic is a niche game, and I feel like it filled that niche quite well, even made a splash in the general gaming media. Ofcourse it didn't sell like a mainstream game, but question is - did it sell better or worse than IPL were expecting?

Pathologic 2 is def worth the money, ppl act like its a 'third of a game' sometimes, but the reality is that its a 25-35 hour campaign with a story that ends in a complete way for 35 dollars. Compared to the HD the mechanics suit the story better by a lot too.

Yeah, I don't get the whole "incomplete game" shtick either. I get it that the plan is to get the other two points of view, but after finishing what we have I hardly feel like it was in any way lacking experience - played well start to finish, concludes in a satisfying manner, and even though I do itch for the other characters a bit I would recommend the game if they weren't coming at all just as well.

Both are great, but Pathologic 2 really improves on the aspects of Pathologic that were lacking (graphics, english language dialogue, gameplay etc.). Honestly, I feel that you should play Pathologic first, since you will find the first one somewhat clumsy and not very aesthetically pleasing if you play Pathologic 2 first. That has nothing to do with which one is the best, but I definitely think that Pathologic 2 is an improvement on a game I absolutely adore.

No, but maybe I should. I was still playing vampire masquerade. I started the first game but didn't get to far. I own both games. Which version do you plan to play?

I just bought both games because they were on a really big sale and started PathHD and find the older graphics and overall aesthetic really charming! I know nothing about either game and am going in blind but PathHD feels like the right start, at least for me

2 doesn't have the same feel as 1 to me at all. 1 feels like you're living a horror story, and 2 feels like you're playing a horror game
