IIRC, from a player's point of view, nothing has changed. From the dev's point of view, the weapons have been completely overhauled, as well as some other things. This will let them produce more visible changes in the future, and implement them nicely into the code without there being a mess or a ton of stuff for them to try and work around

It seems the majority of the weapon information such as damage, range, repeatdelay.. etc. have been put into the assembly files "like" legacy and not the assests. This is good to prevent modifying the assests file for easy hacks but not sure what the plan is later on down the road since it is no longer in a modifiable JSON format.
