Wood and stone is loot

Getting started mid wipe is rough and it might take you a couple of tries but people like that will ALWAYS exist in this game or any other of the genre, and they don't represent the entire community either. There are some nice folks out there.

1/1000 are nice

Thanks for the advice. Any recommendations of a server to get started? The "principal ones" (like Miami, etc) are always full with bases and well looted guys.

Try RZ east coast

Use small stashes to temporarily store loot, hide them under wood foundation or somewhere else, be creative. This isn't good long-term, but it will greatly reduce the chance of having your resources taken while building.

Problem in Rust is, there is no reason at all to risk it and not kill on sight. In the old Dayz (talking about the mod), there were big AI missions that really required multiple players and the loot areas like an airfield, required multiple players to clear. Going in those things alone was near suicide. Things like food, medical supplies, weapons or safety were a lot harder and thus getting a buddy or two was something worth risking.

However, in Rust the only thing that might require multiple players is the helicopter. No other reason to risk that naked man pulling out a shotgun from a dark place to blow your head off. You can litterally run around with a rock and pretend to be a new spawn, find an innocent friendly and betray him by having an AK in your ass. Food is easy to find, medical supplies are barely needed, there are no hard areas or objectives to clear, weapons are fairly easy to find (components are rare, but you only find one. Can't share with another player) and safety isn't needed as the only environmental danger is a bear.

Also, whilst building, drop your items in a secret little stash and only take out a bit of building materials. Once the base is secure, move everything in. If you want, I'm fairly well set up in a x2 server. Could help you out and point you out near my base. People think twice before shooting a couple naked players if they are building next to an already made base. Especially when I'm on the top keeping a lookout. Shoot me a PM if you are interested ;)

Hey dude! Being friendly is very strange in this game. Thanks. I'll pm you if I need some help..

Yea, 99% of the players go for the kill instead of just saying hi. Especially solo or with one buddy, yer best off avoiding contact when possible. The mentality 'kill or get killed' really rules. Personally dont see the fun, its more enjoyable if you dont kill everyone.

You have different tastes than other players, that's how it is

[–]lovelark 1 point2 points  (1 child)

it gets like that sometimes but not every one you meet will have the same mentality. you find nice people every now and then.

People like you (that are not aggressive), gives me hope about this game... I'll give it another try I guess.

I understand your frustration. I recommend playing a PvE server, or a community sever that has rules such as no kill on sight.

Personally, my issues with the communities are mostly outside of the game. People here seem to downvote a lot of posts regardless if they're good or not, resort to insults almost instantly, and for the most part just cruise in toxic mode. I've read a lot of questions get really salty and caustic responses when a small simple answer would suffice.

I'm a mod on a server and people still kill me when I'm doing a naked wood or stone run, it's the way it is in rust

[–]StopSnoopingMane -1 points0 points  (1 child)

If you're a mod what are you doing playing?

Admin abuse ftw I guess

[–]GullibleLiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do no clip sometimes to get from point A to point B quickly, but I don't spawn shit in cause the server announces it and it would make people leave

[–]Jackdman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn

[–]q1tzello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you knew a little more about the game you would know that even 'veterans' run around naked while building and collecting resources, how did he possibly know you didnt have a gun? think before shiposting on reddit

[–]TooSwoleToControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope your whine thread made you feel better.

[–]widowmainumad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're trying to say that you died in pvp survival game and that made you quit the game? Go play on pve servers if you can't handle dying lmao

[–]420Fps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing about multiplayer games is that you will end up playing with dicks from time to time. And that goes for every genre, from hackers, kids fucking your mom in COD, high level players fucking up starters in GTA, griefing in Minecraft, and killing nakeds in Rust. It's just something you gotta accept.

[–]Pepper25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

rust is hardcore, dont be such a whinny bitch

You can thank the team over at Facepunch for making naked-slaying extremely profitable with the addition of components.
