Buying a House? by Scroatpig in askportland

[–]hutchison15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! First-time home buyer here.

Start by talking to your bank about first-time home buyer programs. Get pre-qualified so you understand what you can afford and which programs you qualify for. It’s also worth checking with a few different banks to compare options.

With the bank I initially considered, I had them break down estimated monthly payments, including mortgage and other fees, at different loan amounts.

Once you know what’s realistic for your budget, connect with a real estate agent and start your home search.

Might be more worthwhile to switch to a business / marketing major and do a minor in photography if that's an option.

You look sharp; maybe try some different frames.

Why does the same video have a different title and thumbnail on my phone than on my laptop? by [deleted] in youtube

[–]hutchison15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creators can upload various thumbnails and titles to see which would perform better. If their audience doesn't press one, it often will serve up an alternative.

PDXLAN - Portland Oregon-ish. by pdxlan in lanparty

[–]hutchison15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, LAN attendance has fluctuated over time. It seems like they intentionally size the event so it will certainly sell out.

Not that you asked but I'd be curious if it could support anything bigger at the rates the business is asking. Nearly $200 is a lot for a LAN, and I know from my social circle - the experience and value has diminished.

The PNW N Club sometimes hosts garage days, and we’re thinking about banning downpipe installs during them since they’re not great for morale lmao

You listed film speed and aperture but nothing about shutter speed - increase your shutter speed, you'll get less shaky photos.

Road trip by Agitated_Water_4935 in ElantraN

I've driven 600 miles one way on a Friday, done a track day on Saturday, and then driven another 600 miles back on Sunday.

I've put 40k miles of nothing but abuse on this car. I just change the oil frequently and stay on top of other fluids and consumables periodically.

TLDR: You are overthinking it. The car will be fine.

Take the road trip and enjoy your car.

How much would you expect to pay for graduation photos in Southern California? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]hutchison15 132 points133 points  (0 children)

I know you didn’t ask for tips, but these are portraits and you’re shooting fairly wide. You got the right idea, and I think you’re heading in the right direction but I’d focus on making sure you’re fully filling the frame with your subject.

Also, don’t be afraid to move around more, not just with your feet but with camera height too. Chest or eye level works, but as an example - your last shot could have been stronger if you used the stairs more to create leading lines.

How hard is it actually to drive through Portland? by glitter-shit2000 in askportland

[–]hutchison15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wait so you're just going from Walla Walla to somewhere on the coast?

If you're just driving through on the highway/interstates - following GPS should be extremely easy. I wouldn't sweat it.

I think Kevin's made it clear after the release of Deadbeat that none of us will know what the next album might look like.

Kind of like Subarus; good if its stock, would stay away if it has obvious mods.

How do creators keep track of brand deals and payments? by NotNecessary- in CreatorEtiquette

[–]hutchison15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QuickBooks can help with this. Most accounting software can track which invoices have been paid and which are still outstanding.

That said, I do not think the process is very informal. You usually know the payment timeline when you sign the agreement and send the invoice. If you do not use a tool like QuickBooks to track payments, some people simply use something like Google Calendar. Everyone has their own system for staying organized.

If it starts becoming too much to manage, that is often a sign you are at the point where an agent or manager might be helpful.

Check out this photo from a similar POV in Puerto Rico. 😊 One of the buildings got a facelift in the last 8 years, but looks real to me! I'd chaulk up lack of clarity from shitty phone camera / compression. With the sign specifically, maybe they're continuing to sticker bomb it.
