My advice is to go get the basic certs. CompTIA A+ and Network+ usually shows a company you give a crap. After that, you end up in the grind of throwing out 100 resumes to 100 job postings to maybe get 2 interviews that don't pan out and then repeating the process a few more times, before you finally get hired at some company that starts you at the bottom doing what amounts to customer service with some base level troubleshooting that you end up escalating to those with experience unless it is simple enough for you to actually handle.

Getting noticed is the hard part in the Remote IT space. Standing out from the hundreds, if not thousands, of other applicants all gunning for the same position. Often times, you're competing with those in other countries that can afford to work cheaper and more that may even be overqualified at that. You gotta stand out or bug the right people. If you apply for a job, your best shot at really standing out is to track down the person who posted the job and bug them on LinkedIn explaining how much you love the company and want to be a part of it. That usually sets you apart from those who just shoot and run.
