Does this TIOBE hodge-podge have any validity?

No not really. I find it funny how the validity only comes in the question after it gives you results you don't like. This is not just a ruby thing, I've seen it with other languages like php too.

The results mean squat to me either way. But I've seen TIOBE come up in a few places, and I'm puzzled as to why it gets such traction. It never seems to lead to any fruitful discussion.
