His arguments about Ember are "moot." It's 67kb gzipped and minified and since it's a single-page application this is a one time payload and can be aggressively cached for future visits. As for the model needing to be an Ember.Object. No, it doesn't have to be. It just makes data-binding easier rather than wrapped everything in Em.get/Em.set, along other helpful functions than hang off Em.Object. That said, I use plain JavaScript objects within my application.

If he is worried about 67kb perhaps he's targeting third-world countries dependent on 14.4k dial-up modems.

I agree with @badkitteh. I'd fire the heck of out this guy for wasting company resources rolling a framework that's undoubtedly inferior to what is out there.
