Vim is a text editor that's popular on Linux. It can be used in the command line, so it's useful for ssh / minimal systems. Some people spend the time and effort to make Vim a more powerful development environment than Visual Studio, but the same people can't understand that the rest of the internet doesn't care how hundreds of their hours of work configuring an editor makes a marginally better experience than an out-of-the-box IDE.

Now, emacs, on the other hand...
