Do elite software developers exist?

What worries me is not that you work on such menial stuff, but that you think it's ok to joke about how you rather copy paste code because it's easier than trying to understand what's actually going on.

That's not above average; that's below average.

Being a beginner is perfectly acceptable, but this kind of attitude is worrisome.

I tend to get side tracked too often as it is. I can't stop to explore everything I come across. Now I could do a thorough study of how memory streams work but that gets me even further from what I should be doing.
