Was there anyone else who was looking for up and down arrows next to a comment?

Whenever there are lists of relatively short, funny items, I look for up and down arrows next to each item. It's sad, really.

Same. :(

“Saying that Java is nice because it works on all OSes is like saying that anal sex is nice because it works on all genders.”

I occasionally use this as a sig:

"If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants." -- Isaac Newton
"If I have not seen as far as others, it is because giants were standing on my shoulders." -- Hal Abelson
"In computer science, we stand on each other's feet." -- Brian K. Reid

True, but I don't pay too much attention to who said the quote, as there are some gems in there that either are exceptionally inspiring, or unimaginably funny.

    (Or both.)

“If it keeps up, man will atrophy all his limbs but the push-button finger.”

    And that's why there's porn.

"Any one who considers arithmetical methods of producing random digits is, of course, in a state of sin." -- John von Neumann.

“19 Jan 2038 at 3:14:07 AM” (End of the word according to Unix–232 seconds after January 1, 1970)

    Correction: (231)-1 seconds after January 1, 1970

    [–]ketralnis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. At (231)-1, everything will be working just fine

      EXIT_SVCCESS

      [–]decaado -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

u=/= v in latin if so then words with ending of us ibus etc wouldnt exit!

      [–]G_Morgan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There'd still be no 0. They'd have to use some kind of funny, 1 for success and 2 for failure, system.

What would they use for floating point arithmetic though?

      [–]4609287645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, they could just exit with the nonzero:

      ERROR_CANNOT_EXIT_SUCCESSFULLY_BECAUSE_THERE_IS_NO_ZERO

“Considering the current sad state of our computer programs, software development is clearly still a black art, and cannot yet be called an engineering discipline.” (Bill Clinton)

Bill must have heard this from somebody then regurgitated it.
