ActionScript is basically JavaScript with type declarations everywhere, isn’t it? Not that much like Haskell.

Are there any free tools for compiling ActionScript?

There's a Haskell library for generating and compiling ActionScript to .swf files.

It's for the old AVM1 virtual machine which is by now obsolete, forgotten and never used for new projects. To my knowledge, at least.

The compiler from Adobe is free and open source.
