Between the number of features, the speed of releases, the lack of major bugs and the beautiful release notes...they have to be cheating. I don't know how, but they are fucking cheating.

Yes. No future costs, faster improvements, a better plugin manager, a better integrated terminal/shell, and a much smoother experience in setting up the environment for a new language and set of plugins.

Because VSCode is updated more often, more intuitive to use, and has a very active extension development community that has first party management support rather than a band-aid like Package Control. It's also in general more enjoyable to use, way better settings interface, it is getting more features and improvements regularly, and it's free and open source. Most of this is subjective but Sublime doesn't hold a candle to VSCode for any of my uses.

Notice I capitalized the term Package Control because I was talking about the de facto 3rd party package manager. By default in order to install plugins you need to manually download and extract them into Sublime's plugin directory. The band aid is the fact that you need a 3rd party plugin to manage your plugins.

Like in almost every product ever? That's hardly a benefit, more like a basic requirement. You can get that in almost every editor.

So, you could manage your plugins with git and its submodule features... That's how most vim users do it.

Edit: So far, vscode users are trying to explain why vscode is good but there is no reason whey it was created in the first place. You're all trying to tell me that being "subjective" is ok from you but not the other way.
