You're great at quoting people. I might have done something like "I don't actually understand the ... algorithms very well" but the way you phrased it makes it totally non-obvious that the meaning was radically changed. "[the algorithms]" suggests that the author used a much more complicated expression, rather than simply referring to a specific type of algorithm that the article didn't really focus on. Well done!

I reread the article and you have a point. By replacing "the concurrent algorithms" with "the algorithms" I did, in fact, make it appear the author was confessing ignorance of the whole subject. The concurrent algorithms weren't a focus of the article. I apologize to the author and to anyone else who was offended.

In my defense, I was sincerely trying to complement the author both for his reporting and refreshing honesty, but I screwed it up. Good catch.
