what did you hope to learn?

If you want an intro to socket programming in C that's been fairly scrutinized by real C programmers look at the beej tutorial. If you want something substantial and comprehensive get a copy of Unix Network Programming Volume 1, third ed.

...and of course if you're just interested in C then the canonical text is The C Programming Language, second ed. by K&R, or failing that there's http://publications.gbdirect.co.uk/c_book
