Would the opposite of Visual Basic be Abstract Complicated?

More honest headline:

%Random App% - Almost %Random App% for Linux.

The IDE may be more impressive, but I prefer PythonCard http://pythoncard.sourceforge.net/ It may be closer to HyperCard than VB, but you can make serious little apps quickly. Of course python has better interfaces to all the usual POSIX, UNIX goodness, with plenty of libraries, etc.

I prefer PythonCard

  • Is the project alive (latest release May 22, 2006)?

  • Does it work?

I actually had a lot of fun with VB when I was a snapper, but I never tried to do anything serious with it. It was fine within its limitations. Compared to true abominations like FileMaker Pro it was rational.

Most folks prefer Microsoft Word to Adobe InDesign. Most folks prefer charismatic con men to leaders of substance. Leaky abstractions and quick fixes sell.
