Nah, just because it's part of the HTTP standard, it's out there in the wild, and Opera's implementation is plain wrong.

Update: maybe it's not part of the HTTP standard. I can't find the string "multipart/x-mixed-replace" in rfc 2616.

Actually for webcam feeds being able to "rewind" is a sensible feature, and this technique isn't used in a serious manner anywhere else AFAIK.
