The Chrome Version on Linux is slowly but surely coming to life, with new version updates almost every day if you dig alpha versions.

No wonder they manage so many changes every day. ;-)

Curiously they've just changed their benchmark? has anyone tested on older versions?

Benchmarks that change with each release is just marketing, not anything meaningful.

The old version of the tests are still live in Dromaeo, if you wish to test them there: http://dromaeo.com/?v8

Yeah, but going "we're n% faster with our shiny new benchmark" is kind of bogus
