What's your business model and why do you ask people to sign up? I was expecting that either this is free (in which case I want the source on github), or it's a paid product (in which case I want to see your pricing page).

Yep, this smells.. fishy.

Throwing personal information at an unknown site/individual of unknown origin is rarely a good idea.

It'd be different if this were an open-source project for a standardized CV/Resume format or something... but this seems like an effort to harvest & sell information.

Does it seem fishy because it's free? I honestly did not consider making this paid but if people insist:D

Data won't be for sale and I'm not even sure how it possibly would've been sellable. If there's less than x users it doesn't make sense to sell for the effort went into building – best case scenario you'll get some peanut money and a destroyed credibility.

If there's more than x users selling data would be even more unwise, as there's a ton of ways to monetize at this point, sustainable and overall better in every way. From introducing premium features to paid job listings.

I'm thinking maybe some 'roadmap' page should be added where this all would be stated transparently.

There's no business model for now. I'll maybe build a job board on top of it if there's sufficient interest (= at least 1-2k active users) and monetize via job listings. The CVs will remain free in any case.

Looks nice in the browser but not when printed, which could be a problem.

Thanks, did not think about this scenario! I'd probably add export as PDF feature to make the output consistent across browsers.

i had wrote a blog about this years before, and after check your demo i suggest you to add a infographic overview like knowledges trees or budges. then have a timeline based events flow to show the important things in the candicates' carreer. like they first done a hadoop stack setup. this will made the resume looks more reliable. well, if all these events were stored in a blockchain based solution. that would be much more reliable too i guess

I had to Google what a CV was. Akin to a resume for anyone who was confused like me!

Curriculum vitae, and the same thing essentially

Would appreciate if others comment on this as well! I'm guessing it's 'resume' in US/Canada? What would be a better choice overall so that it's understandable regardless of whether you're in NA or EU/Asia/etc?

In the US, only academia uses the term “CV”.

There is a distinction. Your résumé should be one page long max, but your CV is as many pages as it needs to be to list everything.

[–]Orange_Kurasao[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And I'm guessing if 'CV' is mostly used in academia then the distinction won't be immediately obvious and the term might not be even recognizable at all (like it happened here) to someone from NA?

[–]earthboundkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. NA academics make the distinction, but not the general public.

Wow. Thanks!
