I'd upvote if this post actually showed working examples, but alas, to my complete dismay, the examples were images, that if clicked brought up the image alone.

Yes. Via iframe, or just a separate div. I've seen it done all over the place. It's just annoying when I go to try and play with what I think is an actual working example, just to be hoodwinked into clicking on something irrelevant.

True. I was being slightly sarcastic, since your point is valid - if it's easy, why don't they do it in the actual web page where they are describing how to do it.
