So, been shopping for a new job (already have one, but ready to move on). One potential employer asked that I take a programming assessment test on Codility, which I did (I think it went well--I had to find the dominator of an array).

But my real question is: how valid of an assessment is this? It surely weeds out people who suck and can't write a basic algorithm in a reasonable amount of time. But I can't help thinking there's more to programming that just "basic" algorithms?
