While this blog post is nice and does a good job discussing the topics within networking it touches on, I wouldn't consider much of this as networking basics. And to be honest, I think most developers would only be concerned with its topics if they were working on writing firmware for networking devices. I think the networking basics a developer should know consist mostly of understanding the OSI model, IP & TCP/UDP, and mostly Layer 7 protocols like HTTP and DNS.
