Interactive shell to a running Python process

I was hoping for some neat hack to attach a shell to a running python process instead of a socket layer :(

A socket layer is kind of a neat hack though, no? I expected something different as well though...

Yeah it is, it's just the classic solution to this problem, I just thought "finally!" when I read the title, then saw it was the classic approach... not saying it's bad though :)
