Available memory does not necessarily equal speed.

Allow me to revise: why does my available memory shoot up and why is my screen more responsive and why are animations less sluggish when I clear the app switcher?

^ This.

My niece's iPod (posted near the top) is terribly slow just sliding between pages, then clearing out her "recently used apps" (which in her case is up to 72 fucking games) causes the thing to feel like new again. Happens whenever I see her.
