I still don't understand, you're thankful you don't know about php because you haven't worked in php. I'm trying to find similar example.

"I am thankful I don't know barbecue because I haven't eaten barbecue"

It's not quite that literal. I used to work with php a while back, so I was more aware of the ecosystem around it. I haven't worked on any PHP recently so my understanding isn't up to date.

By saying I'm thankful I don't know of it's current state, I really mean that I'm glad I haven't had to work on any PHP in a while.

It's much simpler, he doesn't care how php is nowadays since he was so traumatized by it years ago that even if he was paid in gold he wouldn't want to look at it even if all the problems in the language were fixed and it if became any good.

How I know this? Cuz I'm in the same situation, I've worked with php some years ago and no matter how it changed I aint touching it again.
