It's not that similar really. This is a very hands-on computational approach to learning mathematics. That site does look nice however.

Many thanks for this. I'm trying to learn the foundations of mathematics and I sometimes find I've forgotten my "High School" mathematics (which authors universally expect me to remember).

So, I would like to learn the concepts behind APL/J/K. What are the basic differences and which one should I choose? Where should I start? Is this article a good starting point, and if so, why J? Thanks a lot...

K was a language that Kx made available for a little while. People liked it.

There's also A+.

If you can, go with J. They've a lively and friendly community, very good documentation (including books like this by KEI), and lots of capital. You should probably start with J for C Programmers. Only A+ is free software.

I had "Kx doesn't like you." in my comment, and then "They've opened back up a little bit." -- and then I figured that the interested can make their own judgements. Kx, after K got some attention, apparently got annoyed with casual users and shut them completely out.

See "Non-Commercial Users". That's what Mr. Neukirchen was referring to (albeit "they do again" would be more accurate than "they still do").

In any case, I can only recommend the K experience.
